We recently installed artificial grass for a lovely couple in South London. The couple had been living on the property for a number of years but felt the garden needed a rework. They wanted the fake lawn to have a natural feel and a sleek look to complement their (relatively) new patio.
The garden gets a lot of sunlight, and they have a small garden building that is in regular use. Therefore, they wanted to upgrade the lawn to artificial grass so it could be enjoyed all year with minimal maintenance.
There wasn’t a huge amount of design work involved, as the rectangular lawn was already in place. This meant that our initial meeting could be focused mainly on the best type of artificial grass to achieve their desired results. As always, we brought a selection of artificial grasses and talked through each of them in terms of quality, feel, colour and cost.
We also gave the clients free samples of their favourite grasses for them to keep, as choosing the right artificial grass shouldn’t be rushed. We always recommend keeping samples of your favourite grasses so you can take your time deciding. We’re glad to say that the clients were extremely happy with their choice, as the finished fake lawn looked very natural and fresh, especially in the sunshine, and felt soft despite being very durable.
Other than which artificial grass to use, we also explained to the clients how to lay artificial grass properly, so they fully understood our meticulous process. No matter how high-quality the grass is, if it isn’t installed correctly, it either won’t look good from the side or it could start to sink or flood over time. Once the clients had chosen their favourite artificial grass, we sourced all the materials and got to work. As the garden was rectangular and the lawn was very exposed, it was important we paid a lot of attention to detail. Any slight irregularities in the cutting, laying, or fixing of the artificial grass could have been hard on the eye, so we took the time to get it right.
Even with a fairly straightforward project like this one, with no obstacles and a simple design, it can still take time to lay a proper foundation and install the artificial grass diligently. However, our experienced team finished the job on time and within budget, and it was a lovely experience from start to finish.
The customers were extremely happy with the final result. As you can see in the photos, the garden looks modern, clean and luscious, and the grass is thick and bright, ready to be enjoyed all year round.
