Find the Best Gardener in Surrey or Berkshire – 6 Things to Check

Find Best Gardener in Surrey or Berkshire

Come rain or shine, looking after your garden is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself and your family. Your garden is your little piece of nature—a small part of this beautiful planet that you can mould and make your own. Keeping your garden neat, tidy, and accessible will give you and your family hours of joy and relaxation. In fact, it’s been proven that spending time in nature, including your garden, is very good for your mental and physical health and can even increase longevity! So investing in your garden isn’t just a way to impress your friends, it’s also an investment in your family’s wellbeing.

Anyway, if you’re reading this, you probably already know how important it is to look after your garden, so let’s crack on. There are many gardeners in Surrey and Berkshire, but not all of them are equal. So, how do you choose the best gardener? A team that will keep producing fantastic results for months or years to come? We’re not just going to be biased here and say choose us (although that wouldn’t be a bad choice), we’re going to give you tangible factors to look for when choosing a gardener in Surrey or Berkshire. Whoever you speak to, if you check these six points with them, you should be able to work out if they’re the right fit for your needs.

1. Do They Have a Website?

If you’ve found a gardener via Check A Trade or a similar service, we recommend seeing if they have a website. If they don’t, it’s likely that they are a relatively small operation, and they may not have the resources to produce the results you’re after. A gardener’s website is also your opportunity to get a feel for who they are and what they offer. Do they have reviews, photos and recent projects you can look at? Do they provide the services you need? Do they come across well? Hiring a gardener is a more personal business relationship than most other services, and being able to get a feel for their personality via their website is a good starting point.

2. Do They Have Gardener Reviews?

The second thing to look for is reviews. You might be able to find these on their website, but we also recommend checking Google Reviews to see more recent and balanced feedback. First, look at the number of 5* reviews they have, and then dig a little deeper and look for reviews that are 30 words or more, as these should give you better insight into the company. Another benefit of Google Reviews is that customers often post photos that provide further, independent proof of the gardener’s work.

3. What’s Their Clientele?

By checking their website and their reviews, you may be able to get a feel for the gardener’s clientele. We recommend choosing a gardener or garden maintenance team that has a range of clientele, from large estates to small residential gardens, and from commercial to domestic. This proves that they have extensive knowledge, experience, and equipment, and that they’ll likely be able to execute any tasks you have for them to the highest standard.

4. What are Their Experience and Qualifications?

When you’re on their website, be sure to visit their About section to get more insight into their background. The number of years of experience is important, but having qualifications may also help your decision. For example, at LG Pro Landscaping, we have over 15 years of experience gardening and landscaping in Surrey and Berkshire, but our team also has qualifications and experience that stretch back even further. Our head gardener, Loreto, was brought up on a farm and then went on to successfully complete a diploma in agriculture, agri-tech, and the environment before launching the company.

5. How Many in Their Team?

Some gardeners work alone, and although that’s not always a bad thing, it can restrict their availability and make work slower. Employing a gardening team means they should be more flexible and be able to fit around your needs. They’ll also likely have greater resources and be able to complete jobs in far less time.

6. Do They Provide a Warranty?

We’ve put this last because it’s more relevant for landscaping jobs than garden maintenance. Having said that, it’s not uncommon for clients who hire us for garden maintenance to also need some kind of landscaping at some point. Therefore, checking if the local gardener has a warranty and what it entails is worthwhile. You’ll probably find that most gardeners and landscape gardeners don’t have a warranty at all, but we don’t believe that’s the way to treat customers. A warranty gives customers peace of mind and shows that the company is confident in the service they provide. You can see our warranty here.

A Final Word

You’ll be glad to hear that at LG Pro Landscaping, we tick all of the boxes above! Although landscaping is in our name, we’re also expert local gardeners. In fact, a large proportion of our work is purely gardening and garden maintenance, and we have many 5* Google Reviews and photos for you to get a feel for our gardening services. We do gardening jobs of all sizes, both residential and commercial, and we’re lucky to have many repeat clients who trust us to keep their gardens and estates in top condition all year round.
