This was a challenging but rewarding garden renovation in Weybridge, Surrey, that we thoroughly enjoyed. It wasn’t challenging because of any particular problems along the way, just because there were a lot of moving parts to the project – with artificial grass, real turf, patios, paths, gravel, garden walls, a shed, a split level design, and a LOT of digging! But we love these kinds of projects like a painter loves a blank canvas, and it was hugely satisfying seeing it all come together.
The customers wanted a completely new outdoor space, including a new layout with raised flowerbeds. They also decided to divide their garden in two, with one half being lush new turf for a natural garden space, and the other half being high-quality artificial grass for all-year-round enjoyment (with the mud!) Having an artificial grass space alongside or within a natural garden has become more common in recent years, and for good reason. For those who have the space and budget, it gives them the best of both worlds.
LG Pro Landscaping does many landscaping and garden renovation jobs in Weybridge. We used to be based in the area and we’re still close by. We offered guidance throughout the design process and answered many questions. We explained how each step would be carried out, even down to how we lay artificial grass to ensure it looks and feels great and lasts a long time. We also discussed the customers’ choice of patio stone, gravel, shed design and overall garden design. And once both parties were happy, we sourced the materials and got to work on the site.
Our first task was to clear the old garden and dig down to create a split levelled space. This was quite a job but we got it done in good time with the help of our digger and other powerful pieces of equipment. We then laid the appropriate bases for the artificial grass, natural turf and patio/path sections. This is a crucial step and we always ensure the base layers are built up correctly and the surface is even to prevent sagging and flooding down the line.
We then built the garden walls, laid the patio and white stone borders, and then the artificial grass and natural turf sections with wooden sleepers to separate them. Meanwhile, our team also built the garden shed with white gravel surrounding it. We installed proper drainage on the shed with high-quality drain pipes to ensure a long-lasting and dry structure.
Although there was a lot going on with this project, once the plan was in place, we meticulously worked through each step without any hiccups.
